How to Process Refunds via Shopify for Transactions Using XPay

Overview:

Refund functionality is not supported on the Xap portal due to its scope limitations within the Shopify public app. As a result, refunds must be processed directly through the Shopify store. Below are the steps to process a refund via Shopify when using XPay as the payment gateway.

1. Steps to Process a Refund via Shopify:

  1. Login to Shopify Admin Panel:

    • Access your Shopify admin dashboard by logging in with your credentials.

  2. Navigate to Orders:

    • On the left-hand side menu, click on "Orders."

  3. Select the Order to Refund:

    • Locate the order you wish to refund and click on it to open the order details page.

  4. Click on Refund:

    • In the order details page, find and click the "Refund" button.

  5. Enter Refund Amount:

    • Choose to fully or partially refund the transaction by inputting the desired refund amount.

  6. Confirm Refund:

    • After entering the amount, click the “Refund” button to process the refund.

2. Who Handles the Refund?

  • Bank’s Role: The bank is responsible for crediting the refunded amount back to the customer’s payment method (credit card, debit card, or bank account). The actual crediting of the refund is performed by the bank.

3. Notification of Refund:

  • Shopify Notification: Shopify will automatically send a refund confirmation email to the customer once the refund is initiated.

  • Bank Notification: Customers may also receive a notification from their bank when the refund amount is credited back to their account.

4. Refund Steps Overview:

  1. Login to Shopify.

  2. Go to Orders and select the transaction.

  3. Click Refund and enter the amount.

  4. Confirm the refund request.

  5. Shopify sends a notification to the customer.

  6. The bank credits the amount back to the customer’s payment method.

Note: Refund processing times may vary, but it typically takes a few business days for the refund to be reflected in the customer’s account. For accurate and timely refunds, always process them directly through Shopify.
